Network Engineer / Network Support Officer

The candidate will work within the ComIT Dept providing IP Telephony / Network Communication / Security support in a Biological Sciences research environment.

Job Scope:

- Administration of Cisco-based networking and telecommunications infrastructure.

- Planning, implementation, maintenance and managing of networking/communication/IP Telephony    hardware, firmware and software.

- Network and security architecture design, planning and implementation.

Requirements:

- At least a Diploma in computer-related field with at least 2 year of relevant experience in Cisco   Network routing, switches, firewall and LAN/WAN/Wireless technologies, F5 SSL VPN and Unified   Communication.

- Professional certifications like CCNP or CCNA will be an added advantage.

- Basic Unix/Linux systems administration experience highly advantageous.

- Independent, resourceful and self-motivated team player with good communication
  and leadership skills.

Desktop Software Developer

BACKGROUND:

The Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, A-STAR at Singapore is seeking a Software Developer to create RNAi Screen management and analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to apply computational approaches to biological data generated by cutting edge technologies, such as RNAi Screening.

Direction will be provided by Dr. Frederic Bard (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Pankaj Kumar (Bioinformatician).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- further development, maintenance and support of our in-house software for RNAi Screen analysis written in Python.
- Development of new software tool for image-based screening.
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate will have a degree in Computer science/Bioinformatics or related areas. Candidates with a diploma and excellent programming skills are also encouraged to apply.
Excellent software design and development skills with extensive knowledge in the Python programming language are a requirement. Also beneficial are experience in database programming (e.g. MySQL or SQLITE) and web service development.

Highly motivated individual. Good oral and written communication skills are required as well as interpersonal and organizational skills.

COMPENSATION:

Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative support to the IMCB Histology laboratory including roles in minor purchases, goods receipts and fixed assets management
• Collate lab requests and facilitate the billing of services rendered
• Coordinate schedules and meetings
• Coordinate printing and stationery supplies and other office appliances purchases and maintenance
• Compile and prepare data and reports
• Ensuring the proper maintenance of all data, documents and records relating to the unit’s operation management system
• Any other duties which may be assigned from time to time

Requirements:

• Diploma in Business Administration or its equivalent
• 2 to 3 years of relevant administrative experiences
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Prior administrative working experience in a laboratory will be an added advantage
